I think all I have to say in this post is... Oktoberfest in Munich!
Amy, Kasia and I went down to Munich for the weekend. We left Trento on Thursday afternoon and made our way across the Alps in First Class. I must say that its quite a civilized way to travel, especially when there is such a beautiful scenery. Unfortunately, most of my pictures ended up being of trees, but this should give you an idea.
Having successfully crossed the Alps without resorting to elephants and making our way through the Munich public transit system, we finally arrived at our weekend accommodations:
Following a peaceful night of sleep which was sustained mainly thanks to the free alcohol distributed at the campsite, we made our way to the Oktoberfest fair grounds. One thing has to be noted about the Munich Oktoberfest : there are Anglos everywhere! From Canadians to Americans to English, Scottish and Irish, without forgetting the Australians and the odd New Zealander, it is nearly impossible to find Germans!
We spent the morning in the Löwenbräu Tent with a group of Australians before making our way to another tent that had a giant roasting pig on the front of it - I can't for the life of me remember the name of the brewery. There we ended up with three Germans which added some local colour to our experience.

After being kicked out of the tent around 16:00 (every table tends to be reserved at that point in time) we spent the evening on a patio with a number of Irishmen before making our way back to the tent and some more alcohol.
Sensing that Saturday would be a circus of queues and tourists, I decided to avoid the festival grounds and wandered around Munich. Its quite a nice city and besides walking several kilometers, I got to take in the sights and venture to some areas where tourists were scarce.

Following another night of consuming beverages of a refreshing nature and meeting the other two at the campsite (they had gone to the Oktoberfest) we made our way back to Trento.
I hope to be able to post videos shortly, the Internet connection is too slow tonight.
As I recover from the cold I caught during the weekend, I am now preparing my upcoming trip to Georgia and Turkey :)
